The athlete behind the facade - life as a professional cyclist

My name is Jonas Skaaning, and I believe that there are several layers to an athlete's story - especially when you start out in professional life at a very young age. I've set out to explore those layers, and in this podcast I try to get behind the facade and get an insight into how demanding athlete life really is. A majority have a relationship and opinions about sports and athletes. Athletes are often seen as super humans that we can afford to demand more from than others. But what does it actually take to be a professional athlete and pursue that career? In this episode I take you into the world of cycling. Cycling is made up of iron men and women who train all year round, live out of a suitcase and live a very frugal lifestyle. And to learn more about this lifestyle, I spoke to former cyclist and current commentator, Thomas Bay, and former cyclist and former president of the Danish Cycling Union, Jesper Worre. But first, meet current professional cyclist, Andreas Kron. Andreas rides at the highest level of the World Tour for Lotto-Saudal, where he started life as a rider among the best in early 2021.
